Spa is a nickname for the treatment of water by immersion in spring water, artificial pools or baths. Such treatment, done with mineral water, is also called balneotherapy. A spa that also offers such a treatment is also called a spa.
Today it is common to do spa not only as part of medical treatment but also for recreational purposes. In addition to bathing, many spas offer physiotherapy treatments based on a variety of electrical devices, different types of massage, exercise exercises, proper nutrition training and more.
The term spa originates from the name of the Belgian city Spa. Sufferers of diseases caused by a lack of iron have been drinking the water of the place since the Middle Ages. The water had a certain amount of iron oxide.
In Israel, a spa has become a source of recreation for couples, women, men and groups. Today it is customary to spend time in the spa in an atmosphere of romance and candles. Walking with a partner to a spa center has become an accepted gift for weddings, birthdays, etc.
